Overview
Ash Tag is a personal cigar collection and journal app. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
The short version: your collection data stays on your device. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't share your information with third parties.
Information We Collect
Ash Tag stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:
- Cigar names, brands, countries, vitolas, and blend details you add
- Inventory quantities and archive history
- Smoke records including ratings, dates, and tasting notes
- Photos you attach to cigars (stored locally)
- App preferences and settings
None of this data is transmitted to our servers or any third-party service.
AI Search Feature
When you use the AI-powered cigar search, the search query you type (the cigar name) is sent to an AI inference service to look up matching cigars. No personal information, account data, or collection details are included in these requests. The query is used solely to return cigar information and is not stored or linked to you.
Notifications
If you enable the "Remind me to review" option in Quick Smoke, Ash Tag will request permission to send you a local notification one hour after logging a smoke. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and no notification content leaves your phone.
Data Backup
If you have iCloud Backup enabled in your device settings, your app data may be included in your personal iCloud backup. This backup is managed by Apple under their own privacy policy and is accessible only by you.
Children's Privacy
Ash Tag is intended for adults of legal tobacco purchasing age (21+ in the United States). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 21. If you believe a minor has used the app, please contact us.
Third-Party Services
Ash Tag does not integrate third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or social media tracking. We do not use Firebase, Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or any similar service.
Data Export & Deletion
You own your data. You can export your collection at any time using the Data Management feature in Settings. To delete all data, simply delete the app from your device — all locally stored data is removed with it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
